Bridge+Wolak is committed to music education in youth. Both Kornel and Michael have over a decade of experience presenting well-structured, flexible and engaging educational shows. On the road, they have taught masterclasses and given educational shows at the Festival International de la Musica (Loja, Ecuador), and performed to over 4,000 grade 5-6 students in Guelph, Ontario, Canada over six concerts. They regularly include school concerts in the tour schedule from coast to coast and can customize programs for any age group.
For the general public, or for school-aged youth, Bridge+Wolak presents a ‘mixed-bag’ performance/talk called On the Road with Bridge+Wolak. They talk about what it is like to be a touring musician, how they develop their new repertoire, exotic travel destinations and the music of other cultures, and what drives them to be musicians in the 21st century. All of this is interspersed with short, fun and accessible pieces. This program is appropriate and customizable for all ages.Read More
Michael Bridge has presented lectures for many organizations, including TEDx Talks, Soundstreams, and music festivals across Canada and the USA. He often includes a fun program on the many different types of accordions that he plays and their unique histories.
Dr. Kornel Wolak has presented lectures for several universities, on a diverse range of topics, including a detailed demonstration of reed-making and an informative session on a performance career as a chamber musician and orchestral soloist.
A community residency is a fabulous opportunity to connect more deeply with young musicians. During past residencies (usually of several days, but the timeframe is adaptable), Bridge+Wolak has offered individual lessons on accordion and clarinet for musicians, hosted Q&A sessions for members of the community, given talks on the business of music, and performed educational shows and outreach concerts.
